Mothering Them

Mark and I have heard “It’s a girl!” three times, and we adopted one more, making a total of four little women in our home. It’s one thing to be a girl. It’s another thing altogether to raise them. I’ve never wanted to get anything so right in my life.

Mothering them is breath-taking and paralyzing and joy-filled and wonder-full all at once. A gift I get to briefly steward. I can sleep at night because I know the One who loves them more than I do. He will hold them. He will help them. I’m so grateful Jesus is sovereign and good and true. I love them so. And I rest in him.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the bio moms, adoptive moms, birth moms, foster moms, spiritual moms, step moms, waiting moms, grandmoms, sisters like moms, aunties like moms, neighbors like moms…

You are life-givers, each one.
